Our Artists of the Year

1. King Princess
20 year old New York singer and multi-instrumentalist, having released her debut EP this year, King Princess signed to Mark Ronson’s Zelig Records. Her debut single, “1950”, released in February 2018, was tribute to the 1952 novel The Price of Salt by Patricia Highsmith, to the LGBTQ Community and to queer love. 2. Mahalia
We first saw Mahalia perform live in February 2013, when she made an appearance at Urban Development’s ‘UD Live’ at Cargo in Shoreditch. Since then she’s consistently released exciting soulful pop music, including a live performance for COLORS on YouTube (click here to watch).

3. Grace Carter
20 year old Brighton singer/songwriter started writing and performing her own music from the age of 14. Aged 15, she’d converted her bedroom into a makeshift studio, before teaching herself piano using YouTube videos. 6 years later her exciting debut EP was released, featuring catchy yet soulful songs, topped by Grace’s powerful vocals. 4. Rosalía
In May this year, 25 year old Spanish singer/songwriter Rosalía took the world by storm with her hit song “Malamente”. Fusing flamenco music with R&B/pop, the song won “Best Urban Fusion/Performance” and “Best Alternative Song” at 2018’s Latin Grammy Awards. 5. slowthai
Northampton rapper slowthai is a force to be reckoned with. His hard-hitting bars fuelled by truth grabbed the attention of ground-breaking South London producer Mura Masa, sparking their collaboration on the new single “Doorman”. Check out the live Vevo DSCVR performance here.
